How to Clear Your Acne.

Not sure where to go to clear your skin?

We can help.

The Acne Cycle:

Clear skin is all about balance. It is not about drying out your skin! Our goal for this post is to introduce you to methods to balance the fatty acid content of the oils in and on your skin, so you are not left with clogged pores (which often turn into blemishes!).

Drying out your skin with harsh acne-targeted products can lead the skin to produce even more oil, causing even more clogged pores. Ever wonder why typical acne products seem to work for a period of time, but eventually stop working for your skin? This is because your oil production has recognized it needs to do more to keep your skin moisturized, because it is constantly being dried out. Therefore, while your blemishes may lessen for a period of time, they often return once your skin begins overproducing oil again. This cycle occurs for OTC products, prescription acne treatments, and even prescribed antibiotics—all of these products share a common goal: Dry out the acne. Balance, however, is crucial for long-term clarity. We have outlined a routine to keep your skin happy and controlled… A routine that will help break the acne-cycle!

The Method:

  1. Cleanse your face with a non-drying, sulfate-free cleanser. Preferably a cleanser containing some oils like Jojoba Oil or Hemp Seed Oil (these oils cleanse your pores without drying out your skin). *Cleanser coming soon to Kaya By You*

  2. Optional Step for Night Routine: Second cleanse with a clay-based cleanser or mild exfoliant. This step helps rid your skin of any dirt or clogging gained throughout the day.

  3. Tone your skin using a gentle, alcohol-free toner like Pure Rose Water or Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel. This step balances the PH level of your skin, preparing it for treatment and soothing the skin.

  4. Treat your skin using our Pure Serum! This serum will balance out oily and combination skin, along with decreasing the potential for future breakouts.

  5. Spot treat your blemishes with Tea Tree Essential Oil! Use a Q-Tip and apply directly to blemishes. Tea Tree is a powerful antibacterial agent and will help rid your skin of blemishes. *Do not apply all over face — essential oils like Tea Tree may be harsh on the skin and can cause irritation*

  6. Moisturize your skin with a gentle moisturizer or a facial oil. This step is important! It calms your skin and leaves it nourished, so your skin doesn’t have to overproduce oil. *CBD infused Facial oil coming soon to Kaya By You*

Helpful Tips:

  • Try to exfoliate your skin once a week, and apply a face mask one or two times per week, depending on your skin’s sensitivity. Try to stay away from artificial chemicals, and instead go for a clay-based mask and an oat or coffee-based exfoliant. :)

  • If you suffer from dry acne-prone skin, our Milk Serum is a great addition to your routine, and it can be used before a moisturizer. You can layer any of our serums!

  • Consider other factors that may be causing blemishes to appear. Sleep, diet (dairy!), and stress often have an effect on skin.

  • Believe in your ability to achieve clear skin! What you focus on often manifests itself into the physical!
